International conference on disabilities

The international conference on disabilities (cerebral palsy and developmental disabilities) takes place in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh in India) on 8-10 March 2013, a joint meeting between the Indian academy of cerebral palsy, the American academy of cerebral palsy, the World federation of neurorehabilitation and a host of other national and international bodies and with close to 2000 registrations.

The free Nokia screen reader

Last October, Nokia announced at their annual Nokia World conference that they are making a FREE Screen Reader for some devices. Not Windows Phones however.

The Screen Reader software is co-developed by long-time Nokia developer Code Factory who are known for their own screen reader ”Mobile Speak”. They actually made an app before it was possible to make a screen reader on Nokia devices called ”Mobile Accessibility”, so it was a natural choice for Nokia to let Code Factory be

Madrid Meeting Kicks Off European CLOUD4all Project

CLOUD4all, the European Commission funded program to develop a cloud-based accessibility architecture, started on 1st of November 2011. The project began with a meeting of the 30 partners and collaborators in Madrid, at Technosite/ONCE. Technosite is a member of the Raising the Floor Consortium and the coordinator for the project.

jQuery - Accordion, Views Slideshow, Calendar

Many thanks to people for their work on accessibility!

Could someone point to instructions about how to implement the more accessible version of Accordion? Does it work with Drupal jQuery, or does it replace that as well as the Accordion script itself? Or do we just add this as a jQuery script in our jQuery Libraries folder?

Accessible Oracle Solaris 11 - released!

Moments ago, my computer spoke to me: "Oracle Solaris installation is complete. Review the Oracle Solaris installation log for more information." This was followed by "Oracle Solaris installation log button" (telling me that that is the focused button on my screen). Three TAB presses later ("Quit button", "Help button", "Reboot button") and a press of the RETURN key, and my computer rebooted with a brand spanking new accessible installation of Solaris 11, Oracle's latest operating system
